At course "Gabriel García Márquez between power, history and love", we can identify the narrative contributions of the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez to universal literature through the study of three of the author's great obsessions: power, history and love.
We will have the opportunity to enjoy reading the following works: "The incredible and sad story of the candid Eréndira and her heartless grandmother" (1972), "The Autumn of the Patriarch" (1975), "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" ( 1981), "Love in the time of cholera" (1985), "The general in his labyrinth" (1989) and "Of love and other demons" (1994).
By studying these works chronologically published after One Hundred Years of Solitude (1963), we will be able to recognize the narrative evolution of García Márquez.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to delve into different topics such as: the dictator's novel, the particularities of the new historical novel, the author's literary influences, the theme of old age, among others.
Finally, by delving into the narrative universe of García Márquez after Macondo, we will be seduced by the richness of his language and we will understand why this writer is considered one of the great literary geniuses of all time.
